Frequently Asked Questions
Free Community Store - Environmental Sustainability - Shared Resources
-
We are a free community store where donated goods are shared at no cost. Our goals are to reduce waste, increase access to everyday (and not-so-everyday!) items, and build stronger community connections.
-
Because we want to, and so can you! Our board is made up of four women with different backgrounds and shared values. We’re passionate about reducing environmental impact, encouraging reuse, and creating a welcoming space that fosters community connection.
-
Yes! All donated goods are looking for new homes and won’t cost you a thing.
-
You can. Our space is open to everyone. We hope to reduce the stigma around secondhand goods and encourage the whole community to participate. No proof of income—or anything else—is required.
-
We save tons of usable goods from landfills. By encouraging reuse over disposal and reducing overconsumption, each item shared helps save energy, materials, water, and emissions.
-
Inventory varies widely! We’ve seen everything from large pieces of art to car roof rails, suitcases, and knee high sequined boots. Most commonly, we offer:
• Clothing and shoes (including lots of kids’ items)
• Household goods
• Books and games
• School supplies
• Seasonal items
• Toys and more
Availability depends entirely on donations.
-
All items are donated by community members and local partners who want their gently used goods to continue being useful rather than thrown away.
-
Yes—and we’re so grateful when you do.
Currently, we can accept one or two small bags or boxes of donations at our pop-up events. As we grow and eventually move into a larger space, we’ll be able to accept more. When donating, please consider the condition of items and whether you’d feel good giving them directly to a neighbor.
-
We are supported by community donations, small fundraisers, and grants. We are volunteer-run and intentionally keep costs as low as possible. All monetary donations go toward essentials like rent, utilities, storage, insurance, and basic operating supplies. No one is paid.
